With the latest ClassicFilmFan web page redesign comes new added attractions. First to be added is the new feature of a regular podcast. It's been nearly ten years since I began this internet endeavor, so you can imagine the site was long over due for a reimagining. And if you're going to revamp a look you might as well get with the times and reach more of the senses. My first step is to do so with a podcast.
As much as I have to say about classic film and its ever expanding universe of appreciation I just can't write fast enough to keep up with it all the time. That's when I like to open up the mics and just let the thoughts pour out. Of course, the thoughts flow much better when there's someone to bounce ideas off of - you know, like in a real conversation. So, I'll be having plenty of guests with whom to wax nostalgic about all things classic cinema. And who better to begin with than a class full of film students whose grades depend on hanging on my every word. Not all of them at the same time, but in manageable bits. And more!
Although I can talk about old movies all day, I will be keeping to specific topics, and inviting in guests to match the conversations. I can't imagine we'll reinvent the wheel when it comes to the format of podcasting, but I can promise you the talks will be lively, fun, and informative. And always perfectly under stable - no deep film studies, criticism here. Of course, we're capable of big words, but we'll just leave that to those who publish analytical papers on Eisenstein's theories and Bazin's criticism of modern filmmaking. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just not gonna happen here. I don't think I'd want to listen to that.
It's not just conversations either, there will be interviews with noted cinema experts and celebrities as well all talking about their specific areas of expertise. So, whether there's a personal appearance happening with a beloved star or the release of a restored masterpiece ClassicFilmFan will be talking about it. I hope you'll be listening, and please, join in with your comments. I'd love to hear from you!
