Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds will be back in theaters all across the country for one night only, Wednesday, September 19. There’s still time to check for tickets in your area. And there are more classics coming out to a big screen near you soon.
Here we go again classic film fans! TCM Event Series is following up their successful presentation of Casablanca and Singin’ in the Rain with a one night showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. The event is happening all across the country in a variety of theaters Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30P (local time).
If you liked Bogart and Bergman, and Kelly and Reynolds on the big screen just wait till you see one of the thrill master’s most popular works in a theater surrounded by an appreciative audience - home viewing just doesn’t compare. And if you happened to have missed the presentation of the previous two classics, be sure not to miss out on this one. Known for it’s thrilling chaos of attacking feathered creatures, The Birds is truly one of Hitchcock’s most unusual films, with a screen villain like no other in the history of cinema up to that time. The following decades would exploit the evils of our animal friends, culminating with wild dogs and killer whales in the eighties. However, radioactive giant spiders aside, it was The Birds that instigated a serious look at the psyche of animals as man’s great enemy.
Not too scary for older children (parents use your best judgement), The Birds offers a classic film experience that can be enjoyed by multiple generations of the whole family. And in an actual theater where you can buy popcorn and experience the film the way it was intended. Imagine that! Well, thanks to TCM you can stop imagining and just do it. See you there!
